Concept:
An artwork that will be collaborative, site-specific, and ritual-like. It is intended to facilitate emotions and be able to release them. This will include any friends and family who want to participate. They will be allowed to express their thoughts that are intended to be gone. This art project transforms private weight into a physical and layered object. The goal for this work is the action of discarding. They will have the choice to write on this piece. After they give back their typed or written words, sections and areas of the paper will be burned. Each page of paper will be glued to the next in some sections. It will allow me to transform it into a whole. Once the piece is finished, it will be taken to a permitted forest setting for it to be buried, as this is the action of “discarding” our thoughts. This step will symbolize the transition of thoughts getting grounded back to earth.
Shape / Form: Rectangular and multi-layered.
Texture: Ripped and charred
Materials: Paper, ink, graphite, glue stick, and fire (lighter).
Setting: Permitted Forest Environment
Conclusion: Buried in the forest.
