Stephanie Rodas Artist Portfolio Presentation Summary

Stephanie Rodas's Summary of Artist Portfolio Presentation

Stephanie Rodas, an NJCU graphic design student, dives into her past and current inspirations, art pieces, and her next project proposal. In her Artist Portfolio Presentation, we dive a bit deeper into her artworks and headspace. Born and raised in Clifton, NJ, Stephanie was part of a Colombian immigrant family that never knew a day of rest as they worked to live their best lives here in the U.S. Early in her life, she discovered her love for art and creation through painting. In the presentation, we read her artist statement and bio to get a better understanding of her and her work. We then see Stephanie's influences, from the non-conformist painter Frida Kahlo to the incisive Jenny Holzer’s installations. We then get a look into Stephanie's own work, where she speaks about certain decisions she made, her intentions, and what the projects were. Her works are all digital creations made from Adobe programs, as well as designs created throughout her NJCU years as a student. Lastly, Stephanie discusses her project proposal where she plans to create infographic posters that show facts and stats of immigration here in the U.S. More specifically, the stats of how immigrants benefit, why they immigrate here, and the process of Immigration. She wants to do this to educate the public with important information about this topic, to get rid of prejudiced opinions and false facts.
