Stephanie Rodas Draft Proposal

 Art Proposal:

My proposal for my next project is an infographic poster that shares details on Immigration from countries all over the world to the United States, from the 1800s to the present time. My goal is to share statistics and facts on how many generations of people, from all over the world, have come to the United States, as well as share events and stories on why certain groups of people felt the need to leave their homes to come to the U.S.

My goal is to show how the U.S has always been a country where people felt they could come to reinvent themselves and start a better life. As well as to share numerous reasons why immigration happens, and the needs these immigrants have. I would also like to share how the U.S. has welcomed these immigrants over the years, with Immigration becoming a major topic recently, as well as ICE. My goal is to show the history of where this all started, in order for people to compare our treatment of immigrants back then and compare it to now. Another goal I have is to show the necessities of these immigrants and how they contribute to the U.S.

I plan to do this in the form of an infographic poster, filled with simple graphs, stats, and stories that are easy for anyone to read and understand. Stats from as early that 1800's that show how many people from each country came over the years, and then write about how they were received here in the U.S. Another poster will show reasons why these different immigrants from different countries came, as well as how they contributed over the years. I plan to use lots of easy-to-read graphs, and not too much text to keep viewers' attention, and simply let them see the stats in easy and simple stats. I would create these posters digitally using InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

I will stick to facts and stats to spread a message and let people educate themselves on a topic that has so much tension right now and has so much attention. I will try to not show a biased stance but instead educate viewers to let them think for themselves. I would print out large posters to hang up at a 5'2 eye level, and hang them up wherever I could to get everyday people to see it as they go about their day. As well as share digitally on social media.
