Answer the following questions:
What material/medium/process do you use and how?
I think I was inspired by a more recent trend in branding and graphic design where everything feels more clean and minimal. It made me realize that a brand doesn’t need a lot to stand out. When something is simple but well done, it looks more confident, like the designer really knows what they’re doing. At the same time, I also like more maximal designs when they’re done well. I think those can be really powerful too. Right now, I feel like I’m somewhere in the middle, trying to find a balance between minimal and more expressive styles.
Also, I feel like “clean” and “minimal” don’t just apply to design, but to how something feels mentally. When something looks "clean", it feels easier to understand it in my brain and less overwhelming. I think that’s another reason why I’m drawn to this style and why I try to reflect that in my work.
Choose two quotes or ideas that stood out to you.
"I make the videos that I make because it’s what I want to make;"
This idea stood out to me, he said he makes the videos he wants to make instead of following what others expect from him. He mentioned that there are certain subjects that are more accepted or supported, but he chooses not to limit himself to that. I think this shows that his work is very personal and honest, and that he cares more about expressing his own ideas than trying to fit into what others want to see.
"It’s anyone who's okay without having things explained to them overtly or who is into the languages that I'm trying to convey through propositions and conversations. "
Another idea that stood out to me was when he talked about not needing to explain everything in his work. He mentioned that he’s not interested in making everything clear or easy for everyone to understand. Instead, he prefers to leave things open, where the viewer can interpret it in their own way. I think this connects to his style because his videos feel more about the experience of the viewer and the feeling it gives you, rather than giving a direct explanation.
