1) Quote 1
"Something I like to consider when creating my work is who is looking, and how can I get them to slow down enough to consider themselves in that gaze. What happens beyond the capture, in the before, during, and after of looking? Can I create an autonomous space for myself, and for anyone in the space that considers themselves in my likeness?"
- I like this quote because it raise important questions for beginner artists, especially about how we capture the attention of viewers. It makes me think about whether our work can truly impact at lest one person, even if they do not fully understand the meaning the artist intended. It also highlights how art can create a moment of reflection, where viewers are encouraged to see themselves within the work.
2) Quote 2
"If I'm going to be looked at and perceived by someone else, the silhouette feels like a space where I can control what is being taken in also push someone to question how they are looking."
- I like this quote because it speak to the idea of capturing the soul and spirit of the viewer. It emphasizes how people can embody expression and emotion simply by looking at an artwork, and how artist can guide what is revealed while still encouraging viewers to question their own perception.
3) Leseur is inspired by light and how they are like bodies of water, which can feel both fluid and soothing, yet also fierce and illuminating. color plays an important role in his work, acting as an invitation for viewers while allowing them to decide whether they want to stay engaged or avoid interaction. He is especially inspired by red and blue, color that symbolize a sense of freedom he could not fully grasp or manifest. Much of his inspiration also comes from the body and body language in his work, showing how language is something we ingest and regurgitate as we grow and evolve.
4) Comparing my work to Leseur's is challenging. My work focuses on what people around me are going through, especially social issues and the impact they leave behind. In Leseur's work, he is able to interpret these experiences and move people in a powerful way. Even though I am still learning, both of our works capture deeper meaning and reflect life through our art.
Down below is Leseur work that I like
