One artwork that stood out to me was Jaz Graf’s Phantom Entanglement. This work is about searching for our shared home and not knowing how far back it is. The reason I chose this work is because it was the first work in the gallery that drew me in. As I walked up to it, it seemed like a gateway that I wanted to go through and see what was on the other side. This might connect to my own work because I also want to create artwork that would draw someone in and make you want to think more about it.
Another artwork that stood out to me was Pat Lay’s Transcendent Landscape #7. This work is about how the lines between human and technology have become blurred over the years. The reason I chose this work is because of how simple yet impactful it is. When you think about the context of the piece, you can really see how much the lines are blurred between human and technology that we don’t realize how much of an impact it has on our lives now. This might connect to my work because I do enjoy creating artwork that is simple but it leaves an impact.
