Tina Maneca's COMFORT IS ACTION, gives a sense of home as if you walked into someone's home. Specifically, a baby's nursery because of the stuff animals, the bassinet and veil, and how colorful it is. The quilted pattern and the hand-made wallpaper complimented one another. Everything in the 'room' makes your eyes trail to one thing to another. I also liked how the artist incorporated a piece of their childhood into the piece, it gives it a personal touch. I chose this work, because it gave me nostalgia and how it tells a piece of someone's story.
Jennifer Robert's "Family Album", also gives a feeling of nostalgia. It is a series of photos that the artist bought from eBay, because she lost her own photographs and was planning on re-painting them. So she bought photos vintage family photos from the 1920s-1980s, she chose photos that had a similar composition or a familiar face that reminded her of the photos she lost. Looking at the photographs, it did make me emotional. It reminded me of my own photo album and looking at memories that you had forgotten. I really like how she includes a desk and a notebook for viewers to write their own memories or what it reminded them of. Overall, this piece was a nice touch and made you feel things that you didn't know were there.
