This exhibition presents a body of work spanning towards multiple media, including digital media, pencil drawings, and a short animation. The exhibition will consist of approximately 4-5 pieces, these pieces are small prints about 8x11. The animation will be displayed on a monitor or projected on a loop. In addition, a sketchbook containing drawings of children will be available for viewers to handle and flip through, offering a more personal and immediate engagement with the work.
The work explores themes of vulnerability and nostalgia. Through imagery of children interacting with animals , alongside animation that visualizes the bittersweet nature of childhood, the pieces reflect on the idea of reconnecting with one’s inner child. These moments capture the bittersweet experience of growing older while longing to retain a sense of curiosity and openness.
This body of work is informed by my experience working with children for over five years. Observing their honesty and emotional vulnerability has influenced the way I construct my subjects and environments.
The choice of materials plays an important role in reinforcing these themes. Digital illustration allows for a controlled yet expressive use of composition that creates soft and warm pieces that evoke nostalgia. Pencil drawings from the sketchbook to emphasize spontaneity that contains observational pencil drawings of real and unfiltered moments. This element highlights the immediacy of childhood and invites the viewers into a more personal encounters with these experiences.
