Home is Here

This exhibition was a treat to see. Everyone’s art pieces in one room, each corner having its own style of art, was like looking inside different capsules of time. Each artwork had its own style, story, and representation that was correlated to the theme of the exhibition.

One work that stood out to me was this one. Looking around at the photos and reading over the diary, it kind of felt like I was invading someone’s personal space. In a way, it was, but I think that was the intention. Looking around and seeing the photos, I thought they were personal photos of hers, but when I realized they were all different people unrelated to her, I was confused. Why share photos of strangers? Then I looked through the photos and started to think of each one as a bubble of a memory. How did they feel in that moment? Why take a photo a not relish in the moment? So many questions came into my head, and I wish I had asked questions about it, and what her process was in creating it. It can be interpreted in so many ways, but I would simply interpret it as a space in time filled with different memories of different people we’ve never met. I would compare it to posters in a bedroom. It’s a portal to a space in time, and it creates a memory that will forever be remembered.
The exhibition overall was beautiful and felt like a time capsule. Like a kid's special on TV.
