In the article “why art history isn't like math” there was a quote that stood out to me was in the section “ the power of images” that said “Given the tremendous power of images and the ways images shape our understanding, it is unfortunate that art history is not a part of the core curriculum in more high schools and colleges”. I personally did not know that this was a relying issue for most high schools and colleges since for me I think this is not ok because art history as a whole shows the development as well as the history of most art such as sculptures, painting and other forms of visual arts to the public. In addition, the second quote that stood out to me as well was in the section of the article “ doubly at a loss” said “When we encounter a work of art in an art history class, we are missing not only this rich historical context, but also the physical work itself”. I can understand this because I personally feel that when one looks at a specific artwork physically, then one has a better feel for the artwork and a better understanding of the artwork in itself. For example, I feel like if I were to look at artwork physically at a museum, I would have a different perspective towards it and also certain emotions towards the artwork in it.
2-Choose at least one artist that influences your artwork and include that inspiration in your introduction post. Have you looked to art and art history in your art education and art practice? What artists or genres would you like to explore further?
Furthermore the artist that I like that has influenced my artwork is Paula Scher. For example I really admire her poster and typography artwork and usually I would look at her artwork for some inspiration to get my mind going for some ideas. I genuinely love how in her artwork she's very playful with her typography and isn't afraid to take it to the next level. Most of her work has a certain meaning behind it and that's what I try to incorporate in my artwork because I firmly believe that creating an artwork with a meaning behind gives it more value and a sense of clarity to the art piece. I always liked the fact that she did a variety of work and was willing to be versatile over the years in her career like doing visual identity and branding, environmental design, typography, posters, album covers and even book design. In addition, I was able to be in 2 art history classes in my time in Hudson County Community College and learned a variety of different art styles such as impressionism, surrealism, cubism, and expressionism, just to name a few. The art genre that I would like to explore more would be cubism because I really find it fascinating how artists during this movement would break the objects into cones and cubes, focusing on the structure as well as having a muted type color palette in order to emphasize the order of the color itself.

4-Write 2-3 paragraphs about yourself, the artist(s) who influence you, describe some of your artwork and what motivates you to make work and explore the creative process. Please include any social issues that you are passionate about, and how you were inspired by the artist(s) you chose. Some questions to consider: What are you studying? What artwork do you make? What topics or issues inspire your artwork or storytelling?
Lastly is who I am as a designer. what I am currently studying is towards a Bachelor's Degree in the Graphic design field. I always prefer myself as a graphic designer because most of the work that I like to create is within that preferred field in art. The works that I like to create are logos, business cards, flyers, posters, anything that involves branding design I like to make it. I like to design because its always good to better your portfolio for potential work in the future and also I find it to be therapeutic in a way where I can just get lost in the design that I'm making and not think about anything else. Another thing that I've done in the past is look at other designers work online so that I can feel inspired and try to incorporate my own style within my design that I'm making. The artists that has definitely influenced me would have to be Paula Scher, her work is just amazing to look at and her versatility within her work makes her that much better. The second artist that has influence me is Michael Bierut. I just love how he doesn't just think design is a job but rather more than that, he looks at it like its a perfect way of thinking about the world. What I also liked about him was that he was able to create for Mastercard, Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, Saks Fifth Avenue (including the 64-square logo system), MIT Media Lab, Benetton, Motorola, Slack, Verizon, and the Brooklyn Academy of Music just to name a few. To describe my creative process behind my work, what I usually do is I would look at some graphic design work online, then I would think of an idea on what to design, then I would either sketch it on my sketch book or just create what I thought of in my mind and just put it on Illustrator or Photoshop and then I would create various different versions of my artwork so then I can pick out which one I like the most. How I got inspired by the artists I chose was from the work they've created over the years in their careers. One day I would like to have my work be in the same league of a Paula Scher or a Michael Bierut.
